Important Information

Forget something?   If your child has forgotten anything at home and you are bringing it in, please stop by the office and leave it there with Ms. Sheehan.   She will then call down and students will go down when they are free from their work.  This helps to limit the number of distractions.
At dismissal, students are going in numerous directions.  Don't forget to wave good bye to me so I know you have left.  Get your child in the habit of saying "Good Bye Ms. DeKing" each day before meeting you so I can check them off.  Please remember to keep me posted if dismissal plans will be changing.  Please send in a note to let me know what changes there will be.  Also send in a note if your child will not be going to extended day or an afterschool program because they will need to know.  You can email but be aware that if there is a problem with email access that day, I may not receive it so a written note would be better.
  • Total time spent on homework will remain 30 minutes.
  • Nightly reading of at least 20 minutes will continue.
  • -More info on homework this year will come in time.
During the school year, we go out for recess as often as we can.  In the Fall and Spring, we go out for snack and lunch recess.  During the Winter months, we still go out for recess if weather permits.  Please keep in mind that unless it is bitterly cold, we still go out.  Please dress your child in appropriate clothes for the colder months, including hats and gloves.  Also send in snow pants and boots that they are able to mostly put on themselves.   If students are dressed appropriately, we do our best to get them out.   If you send your child in with boots, please send sneakers on Physical Education days.
Birthdays are an important time in your child's life.  If you would like to celebrate your child's birthday in school, please remember that we do not celebrate important days with food due to the numerous allergies in schools.  Instead of sending in food, why not come in and read a book to the class?  This is a great opportunity to celebrate your child's birthday by being part of their day and making them feel special!  Please contact me to set up a time!
