Water Aid International The purpose of Water Aid International is to bring together students, faculty and other members of the community in an effort to combat the world water crisis. This crisis consists of both the inaccessibility of safe water sources and the fact that water related diseases are the leading cause of death in the world. Specifically, WAI works with water partners international, a non-profit organization which partners with grassroots organizations in developing countries to make a local impact. Our project focuses on a series of villages in Honduras and involves the creation of irrigation systems, sanitation facilities, sinks and faucets in individual homes, and educational programs. Not only will we raise monetary support, but we will foster awareness in the south community. Because we have the resources and ability to make an impact, we feel our group will succeed. We provide the opportunity for students to make a positive and effective difference. We will continue to raise funds
and awareness, first within the south community and as we continue to grow,
in our larger network of connections.
We are currently planning an informational WAI Day in the lecture
hall. Other fundraisers we are considering for this year are bake sales,
candy fundraisers, a car wash, raffle, and a donation dinner. In the future, we envision a monthly
