Bowen School Council Meeting - December 11, 2015

At last monthís meeting, the Bowen School Council meeting began with an opportunity for council members to share a memory of a memorable teacher and to explain why he or she made such an impression.  Everyone enjoyed their walk down memory lane and hearing about the experiences of others!

While reviewing the family survey results, there were three areas that stood out as community priorities from this yearís responses.  These include identifying more opportunities to challenge advanced students, issues around blue zone and morning arrival, and school lunch.  However, the group recognized that not all of these are directly within the control of this group. The council members~identified two “carry-over” items from last yearís work: consistency around communication within and across grade levels, and the transition into middle school.  Another area of interest for the Council is how to better leverage the diversity we have here at Bowen and maximize opportunities for sharing with the community.  The Bowen School Council will be busy this year!  The group decided to begin with one building-based issue (communication) and one “outside” issue (lunch menu) and will identify how to proceed at the next meeting.  We hope you can join us this Friday, January 8, 2016 at 7:30 a.m.
