School Council Update & Election

Every school in Massachusetts is required, by law, to have a school council made up of parents and teachers that serves as an advisory board to the principal.  The council meets in open meetings monthly, and everyone is welcome to attend. This year the Bowen School Council is focusing on two issues that came to light after last year’s family survey: communication and teacher support.  The group will also address any priorities that emerge from this year’s survey. While we invite everyone to join our meetings, we are also looking for 2 new members for the council. Serving on the council is a commitment of only about an hour a month, and it is a fun and engaging way to get directly involved in our students' education.  A term runs for 3 years. If you are interested in joining the council, please email one or both of the co-chairs by October 19th to let them know. (Principal Guzzi at and Andy Sokatch at asokatch@gmail.comIf more than 2 parents are interested, we will hold an election in which all parents in the school community will have the opportunity to cast an anonymous ballot for the candidate(s) of their choice.

Thank you for your consideration!
