Bowen’s Weekly Family Update
March 8, 2019

Dear Bowen Families,
I hope families found a fun way to enjoy the first “snow day” of the year earlier this week!  My family made sure to enjoy some sledding and hot chocolate.  Even though it was only a four day week, it was busy for us as we welcomed incoming K families for K screening.  We always enjoy welcoming younger siblings and new families to Bowen.  Thank you for everything you do to help your children develop and grow as learners.  Bowen is a great place to be!  Have a wonderful weekend!  Don’t forget about daylight saving, our clocks will “spring” forward one hour!
Yours truly,

News You Need to Know
Bowen School Council - March Meeting Summary
During this month’s School Council meeting,  we continued to identify strategies that will “creatively engage families in school initiatives to increase involvement, connectedness and support.”  We also used the recently shared 2019 - 2020 calendar to suggest possible dates for some events.  Over the next two School Council meetings, we will continue to draft a calendar for the upcoming school year.  The calendar will be presented to the Bowen Staff for feedback and then the final calendar will be shared with families in the fall of 2019.
Bowen School Council meetings are always open to the community and we hope you will consider attending a meeting.  Our next meetings will be April 12 @ 7:30 a.m. and May 17 @ 7:30 a.m.

Kindergarten Screening Recap
This week we spent three mornings welcoming our incoming Kindergarten students to Bowen.  We can’t wait until fall!  If you have a child who will be entering Kindergarten in the fall,  and did not attend a screening appointment this week, please contact the Bowen office as soon as possible to register.

Mark Your Calendar - Bowen Community Forum
Please join me at the community forum meeting with the Superintendent and some School Committee members on Thursday, March 21 at 8:30 a.m. in the Staff Room.  This a time with the Superintendent and School Committee as they share some of their goals for the district over the next year.  It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions, share concerns, meet district leaders and connect with other Bowen parents and guardians.  I hope to see you there.

Lost and Found
When visiting school over the next month for teacher/family conferences,  please look through lost and found.  There is a lot of winter gear that has been collected.  We will be donating unclaimed items after conferences.
