Bowen’s Weekly Family Update
February 8, 2019
Dear Bowen Families,
During this past week, some Bowen families celebrated the Lunar New Year and many classes also recognized the New Year as teachers and students shared their family traditions and culture.  I would like to wish staff and families a happy New Year! In addition to celebrating the New Year, we celebrated the 100th day of school, “Walked and Rolled” to school and enjoyed “Many Thanksgivings” in 3rd grade… to name just a few of the events this week!  I would also like to thank 2nd and 3rd grade families for hosting an amazing staff appreciation luncheon, the food was delicious! We are grateful for the support and kindness of the Bowen families!
Thank you for everything you do to help your children develop and grow as learners.  Bowen is a great place to be! Enjoy the weekend, see you next week!
Yours truly,
PTO Bookfair and BAM Night - Update your Calendars
The PTO Bookfair and BAM night have been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 27. This will allow families to celebrate Purim and participate in BAM.  We are sorry for any conflict the original date created and we are glad we were able to adjust the date to recognize the holiday.

GELF Benefit Dinner
Saturday, May 4, 2019
Purchase tickets or donate here: https://www.newton.k12.ma.us/Page/2289
Newton North and South offer an incredible array of international travel learning opportunities, ranging from language exchanges to science research trips to service trips and theatre and fine arts experiences. The Jennifer Price Global Education Leadership Fund (GELF) raises funds to provide financial aid to low-income students so that all the students in our community can participate in these life-changing international opportunities. Many recipients of GELF scholarships speak about the pivotal role these experiences have played in their personal and academic lives.
With 200 community attendees, the GELF benefit dinner is a great way to meet other parents from both sides of town.  Superintendent Fleishman, along with other Newton principals, will be your servers and the night includes a 5-course gourmet meal, live music and dancing, fine beer and wine pairings, an auction and a raffle.
Early-bird ticket purchases or donations of $150 or more before March 11 are eligible for entry into an exclusive early-bird raffle! The early bird raffle prize, generously donated by Sam Adams, will be a VIP tour of the Sam Adams Brewery for up to 20 guests, a copy of Jim Koch's (Sam Adams CEO)'s book, and a bottle of Sam Adam’s exclusive Barrel Room Collection beer.
