Bowen’s Weekly Family Update
December 7, 2018
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Bowen Families,
It has been another wonderful week at Bowen!  Students have enjoyed Creative Arts Programs (CAS) and Understanding Our Differences (UOD).  These programs, CAS & UOD, are possible because of your donations to the PTO and because of our generous volunteers.  The staff also took advantage of this week’s early release as they engaged in professional development.  We had thoughtful conversations about the complexity of identity and the impact of included and excluded identities in our society.  Thank you again for everything you do to help your children develop and grow as learners.  Bowen is a great place to be!  Enjoy the weekend, see you next week!
Yours truly,
Diana

Check Out the Lost and Found
Over the next couple of weeks please check out the lost and found.  We have returned all items with names in them but there are still a number of items that need to be claimed.  The lost and found is located in the main lobby and will be available for checking during arrival and dismissal time in the front of the building, weather permitting.  All unlabeled and unclaimed items will donated during December break.

MCAS Testing Schedule - Reminder
Our testing window was determined by the District to ensure that each school will have the appropriate IT support.  We understand that some absences are unavoidable, but we do ask that everyone be mindful of the testing dates when making appointments, etc.  Testing will be computer-based for all grades.  We know that this impacts some of our CAS Programs and Community Blocks, we hope that you will collaborate with us to accommodate the MCAS Schedule.

Community Staff Update
  • This week one of our crossing guards, Lorin Amendola, underwent surgery.  She is planning to be out of work for 6 - 8 weeks.  She hopes everyone is responsible and respectful when crossing in her absence.  There will be coverage provided during her leave.  Students and families are welcome to drop off notes for Larin in the main lobby to send her well wishes during her recovery.
