Bowen’s Weekly Family Update
May 4, 2018

Dear Bowen Families,
Thank you for all of those who organized, volunteered and participated in the International Potluck Dinner last week.  It was an enjoyable evening for our community as we celebrated the many cultures of Bowen families.  We ended our week coming together as a school as 1st grade led our school assembly.  The focus of this meeting was how we can better take care of the earth.  Ask your children if they remember some of the ways we can make a difference for our environment.  Thank you again for everything you do to help your children develop and grow as learners. Bowen is a great place to be!  Have a great weekend!
Yours truly,

News You Need to Know
2018-2019 Placement Information
During the months of May and June, we will begin our work to create balanced classrooms for the next school year.  An important part of this process is the feedback we will be requesting from parents/guardians regarding your child’s learning style, goals you have for your child, and social information regarding his/her peers.  Included in this email is a placement form that you may use to give us feedback regarding your child that will help us in our process. This optional form will need to be returned to school by Monday, May 7th.  We are sorry that we cannot accept late placement forms.  OPTIONAL STUDENT INFORMATION FORM FOR PLACEMENT
Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week
Next week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week.  Please join me in thanking our Bowen staff for all they do to make Bowen such a special school!  Feel free to write them a note, send them an email, saying “thank you” at pick or have your child make a special card or picture for their teacher.
Let’s Walk, Bike or Roll to Bowen
On Friday, May 11th, we hope all families will be Walking, Biking and Rollimg to Bowen or to their bus stop. Enjoy the outdoors while getting your kids to school safely. Consider walking or biking if you live close enough, park a few blocks away and walk the remaining distance, or walk to your bus stop. Did you know that a one mile walk to school is 2/3 of the daily recommendation for physical activity for one day? Please contact your Safe Routes to School representative, Melanie Hildebrandt with any questions (
