Bowen’s Weekly Family Update
March 16, 2018
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Dear Bowen Families,
Happy Friday!  This week it is hard to keep track of which day is which…..with daylight savings and the two snow days!  Students and staff ended our week together at our monthly school meeting.  The second graders led the whole school assembly and highlighted women’s month with presentations and music.  Ask you children about someone that they learned about today.  Thank you again for everything you do to help your children develop and grow as learners.  Bowen is a great place to be!
Yours truly,
Diana

News You Need to Know

Bowen Science Day - Sunday, April 8, 2018 – Registration Update
With the snow days this week, we have extended registration for Science Day through today, Friday, March 16. If your child is interested in participating but has not yet registered, please sign up online at http://tinyurl.com/BowenScienceDay2018Register. If he or she is not sure what project to do, register anyway so we have space for them at the event. 5th Grade Musical Production of Peter Pan – Tickets Available
After months of preparation, Bowen’s 5th grade students will perform their musical production of Peter Pan in the Bowen auditorium at 7:00PM next Thursday, March 22, and Friday, March 23. There are a limited number of tickets still available for both showings. If your family would like to attend, please email Jennifer Lee (jenlee743@gmail.com) and Karen Chan (kklchan@gmail.com) with your request, specifying which night and the number of tickets you would like. They will confirm availability early next week after filling all 5th grade family requests. Thank you for supporting Bowen’s 5th grade students!

Book Fair and BAM - RESCHEDULED
Bowen's Annual Book Fair and Books, Art, and Music (BAM) Night has been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 28.  The Book Fair will be from 7:45am-8pm; and B.A.M Night is from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Bowen Community Forum - RESCHEDULED
This week’s community forum with the Superintendent and some School Committee members this was postponed due to the snow.  We are currently working with the Superintendent’s office to identify a new date.

Spring Family and Teacher Conferences - RESCHEDULED
Due to March storms, we will be extending the Spring conference window.  March 20 and March 27 will be reserved for spring conferences.  I hope this provides you with additional flexibility for rescheduling conferences.  The expectation is that every family will attend a scheduled conference at some point over the course of the month, even if it falls slightly outside Newton’s window.  This is a great opportunity to reinforce the home and school connect, learn what your child is learning, and discuss their successes as well as areas for growth.
