Dear Bowen Families,

Happy Friday!  We know that we’ve been saying how busy things are around Bowen for a while now...perhaps even all year long.  However now that it’s June, we’re officially entering the super-busy zone!  There are so many fun, interesting, and exciting events coming up for the whole school community, specific grade levels, and for individual classrooms during these last three weeks of the school year.  We love having so much to look forward to, even though it’s hard to believe we have so little time left!  As always, thank you for everything you do to support your child’s learning and growth both in- and outside of school.  Have a wonderful weekend, and we’ll see you on Monday!

Yours truly,
Diana & Tiffany

News You Need to Know
Whole School Assembly Recap
This morning, all Bowen students and staff gathered together in the gym for our next-to-last whole school assembly of the year!  Our 1st grade classrooms took charge of the hosting duties this time around and prepared the entire agenda.  Students shared ways that kids (and adults!) can practice healthy eating habits, as well as ways to stay active.  That will be important over the summer!  The kids wrapped up with a VERY catchy song to reinforce their message.  It was a great way to start our Friday!

Newton SEPAC Special Educator Awards
Each year, the Newton Parent Advisory Council for Special Education honors educators who have done exceptional work with children with special needs at the Special Educator Awards.  Parents, guardians, or students nominate the awards, and everyone who is nominated receives an award.  The ceremony will be held on June 14th at Newton North.  If you would like to nominate an educator for his or her work with students who receive special education services, please visit the following link before June 5th:
Nominations are confidential to preserve the child’s confidentiality, and only the honorees are given the name of the family who nominated him or her.  It is a wonderful way to recognize a hard-working special educator!

Bowen PTO Retirement Celebration
Please join the entire Bowen community for a chance to say goodbye to Laura DiBenedetti, Noriko Ohkami, Lynne Tabor. and Jane Walsh. On Monday, June 19th, the Bowen community will host a farewell celebration on the playground with cake and beverages from 3:15-4:15 p.m.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to catch up with former students and families. We look forward to seeing you there!

A Note from Sodexo - Lunch & My School Bucks
Do you have unpaid lunch charges? As we near the end of the school year, we ask that you please remit payment for your child's outstanding balance by the last day of school. All negative balances will roll forward to next school year.  If you would like to see your student’s account transactions, please go online and set up an account at mySchoolBucks.com. You can view all account transactions, balances and deposits before making a payment. This website will allow you to apply funds online with any major credit card.
We will also continue to accept checks at your child's school cafeteria as well. Please make checks payable to NPS Food Service and indicate your child’s name in the note section. Questions regarding your child's account balance should be directed to the Sodexo office at 617-559-6315 between the hours of 2pm – 4pm. Questions regarding your child's lunch eligibility or their lunch application should be directed to the Operations Department at 617-559-9000.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
