Dear Bowen Families,
Happy Friday!  For the first week of spring, this has looked (and felt!) an awful lot like winter.  While they always say that March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb, nobody ever mentioned anything about the crazy weather that happens in the middle!  Through it all, things around Bowen stay as busy as ever.  We’ve had the Book Fair and BAM Night, conferences over the past couple of weeks, the International Potluck dinner tonight, and MCAS on the horizon.  Not to mention everything that happens regularly in all our classrooms and learning spaces!  We are so appreciative of everything you do that helps your child learn and grow both in- and outside of school.  Have a wonderful weekend, and we will see you on Monday!
Yours truly,
Diana & Tiffany

News You Need to Know
Bowen International Potluck Dinner - TONIGHT!
The day of the annual Bowen International Potluck Dinner is here!   Please join us starting at 6:00 p.m. in celebrating Bowen's diversity and international community!  Bring a dish reflective of your heritage, and wear something representative. Ms. Wenger will have art exhibits by our 3rd and 4th graders on display. From 7:15-8:30pm, enjoy performances of instrumental music, traditional dance, rhythmic gymnastics, martial arts, a Chinese lion dance, and an international fashion show.  We look forward to seeing many members of our Bowen community tonight!

Responsive Home Workshops
Mark your calendars!  Please join other Newton parents for a workshop to focus on how parents and guardians can use Responsive Classroom practices at home.  Responsive Classroom is an approach to teaching and learning that is centered on the foundation that a social curriculum is just as important as the academic curriculum.  An important goal of Responsive Classroom is to create a school climate that is kind, safe, respectful, and predictable.  Amy Kelly, District Leader of Social & Emotional Learning, will discuss ways that families can use the same language and practices of Responsive Classroom to create a cohesive, unified experience for children, as well as to tackle common home-life challenges.
There are two sessions left to choose from this year:
Wednesday, April 12th (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.)
Thursday, May 11th (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.)

Sessions will be held in Room 210 at the District Education Center, 100 Walnut Street, in Newton.  No registration is required, and all sessions are open to the public.  We are looking forward to these workshops  and the opportunity to work closely with families to support our children!
