Dear Bowen Families,
Happy first Friday of 2017!  24 hours ago, we would have been commenting on how it doesn’t really look very “winterish” outside.  How quickly that changes!  We love getting just enough snow to make the landscape look nice...while not getting so much that it makes traveling a huge challenge.  Hopefully your first week back from vacation was a good one.  We saw lots of smiling faces and heard many stories about fun and relaxing breaks.  We also saw lots of students and adults getting right back down to the business of learning!  The weekend will be a good chance to recharge.  We appreciate everything that you do to help your child grow and learn, both inside and outside of school!  Have a wonderful weekend, and we will see you on Monday!

Yours truly,
Diana & Tiffany

December School Council Meeting Summary
At the December meeting, the Bowen School Council began by sharing resolutions/goals for 2017.  Once again, opposite views on travel popped up, with “travel more” and “travel less” both making an appearance.  A popular goal was simply, “Try more things that scare you.”  That’s how we grow!  The group then discussed how to better engage a wider group of respondents, which led to some conversation about attendance at school-based meetings.  Thoughts about creating an online forum or a FAQ were shared, with the Council agreeing that answering questions raised through the Family Survey on a Bowen School FAQ document would demonstrate responsiveness and provide another entry point into the conversation about Bowen for a greater number of community members.
At the January 27th meeting, the School Council will discuss the trends identified within the data from the Bowen Family Survey, as well as identify questions asked on the survey to be answered for a Bowen FAQ list.  Please remember that all Bowen School Council meetings are open to the Bowen community.  Feel free to join us!
