Dear Bowen Families,

Happy Friday!  We seem to be firmly stuck in a “rainy spring” pattern these days, which has not been terribly conducive toward getting the kids outside to run around and get their extra energy out.  Classrooms have just had to get creative about finding even more ways for students to get up and move while inside!  With any luck, next week we will find ourselves in a new, SUNNIER weather pattern and it will really feel like spring.  For now, just keep dodging those raindrops and enjoy your weekend with family and friends.  Thank you for everything you do to make Bowen a great place to be, and we will see you next week!

Yours truly,
Diana & Tiffany

News You Need to Know

Many Thanks!
On Sunday, May 1st, many volunteers came together as part of the annual Newton Serves program and tackled the beautification of the Bowen School grounds as their project.  There was mulch for everyone!  Thank you so much, and we truly appreciate all of the volunteers’ time and effort on behalf of our school!

2016-2017 Placement Information
During the months of May and June, we will begin our work to create balanced classrooms for the next school year.  An important part of this process is the feedback we will be requesting from parents/guardians regarding your child’s learning style, goals you have for your child, and social information regarding his/her peers.  Last week, we sent home a placement form that you may use to give us feedback regarding your child’s placement. The form will need to be returned to school by Monday, May 16th.  We are sorry that we cannot accept late placement forms.

Newton Schools Foundation - Honor Thy Teacher 2016
The Newton Schools Foundation “Honor Thy Teacher” program provides a way to thank the hardworking staff at Bowen School while also supporting NSF in making new educational programs possible for the Newton Public Schools.  Any staff members who are honored receive a notice, and a list of all honored staff members will appear in the Newton Tab in the fall.  It’s a great way to thank individuals who have shown dedication and support to your children over the course of the school year!

Lost and Found - Overflow!
Once again, our school lost & found bin has become home to many items, including clothing, lunch boxes, and water bottles!  Many items have now been neatly displayed on the table in the lobby--check them out and reclaim your lost items!

5th Grade Car Wash
In the fervent hope that someday it will stop raining...let’s think about getting our cars washed!  On Sunday, 5/22, you can have your car washed AND help the 5th grade class raise money.  Proceeds will go to a charity selected by the 5th Grade Student Council.  Stop by Bowen between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m on Sunday, May 22nd to show your support!
